I’m Peter Elliott, a Santa Barbara, California local, and I’m passionate about pipes in every respect: making, restoring, chatting about and, of course, smoking them. I’m a pipe-obsessed guy, as most of us are. Unlike a lot of stores out there, I smoke and enjoy the whole hobby. The store was an afterthought.

I run this entire endeavor by the Golden Rule. If one does this, everything else falls into place.

I spend hours every week hunting down special pipes. This shop is about quality for what you pay. I spend as much time on a Dr. Grabow as I will on a Dunhill. It’s what the pipe needs, without considering how much time it takes. That’s horrible for my bottom line, but I can’t do it any other way.

Every pipe I sell is special and in great condition, ready to smoke. It’s really hard to let each one go. Briar’s remorse, I guess. (Dad joke.)

Why Radiant Pipes exists

I’m a stay-at-home dad for my special needs son, who is amazing and my pride and joy. I really needed a way to feel accomplishment and stay busy while earning a bit extra for equine therapy and the other services that help him, and to have fun too. This shop has helped a lot. It’s stressful at times, but it’s such a fun thing to spend time doing.

Every pipe you buy here helps pay for my son’s equine therapy and the things that help him thrive. Thank you for being part of that.

It’s also why my future workshop has to be at home. As soon as I can get a home with the room, I’ll build my own shop and be making pipes much of the day. I always need to be close to my son.

Truly restored, not just cleaned

Many people call cleaning a pipe “restoring” it. When one of my listings says restored, it’s truly restored. Pipes that don’t need restoration are detailed and waxed. I don’t sell pipes with cracks or major issues, and every description is researched and written by hand, never by AI, with 10–20 photos so you can judge the condition yourself.

What’s next

I’m slowly working on my own line of pipes while I wait on some larger equipment and finalize my maker’s mark. In the meantime, about 90% of my pipes aren’t listed yet, so if you’re looking for something you don’t see, just ask. I may have it and can make a listing for you.
